MLK: Three Landmark Speeches
"Peace Talks Radio producer Paul Ingles interviews two leading King scholars, asking each to pick speeches from those years to focus on. You’ll hear from Dr. Vincent Harding, Professor of Religion and Social Transformation at Illiff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado and a personal friend and speech writing colleague of Dr. King in the 1960’s. Also mixed into our program, you’ll hear Dr. Clayborne Carson, who at Coretta Scott King’s request, has been directing the King Papers Project since 1985. Dr. Carson established the Martin Luther King, Jr., Research and Education Institute at Stanford University in 2005. The speeches these scholars chose were… King’s last address, the night before his assassination in Memphis in April, 1968. Also, the speech he made a year to the day before he was killed, called “Beyond Vietnam,” in which Dr. King came out publicly and explicitly in opposition to the Vietnam War. And from March of 1965, Dr. King’s remarks that he made at the conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery marches, considered a turning point in the struggle for Voting Rights and equality for African Americans."Click on this link. And have a happy and reflective MLK day!

Looking Forward, Being Thankful
| Jean Woods started her second career at 70 working for the Gap and later made her way across the street to Bloomsbury, a fashion boutique. |
| I love Gillian Lynne's defiance of conventional age. At 87, she continues her career in dance as a choreographer and producer with her own production company. |
This Thanksgiving I am looking forward to aging and being thankful for my health to carry me there. Find out why in the video, "Fabulous Fashionistas" about 6 women whose average age is 80. Among them, a youthful shop girl at age 75, the oldest working super model at age 85 and a mini-skirt wearing 87 year old dancer. These women indeed prove that if the personality fits, wear it!

Today's Adelita Style Selfie
It's been a while. And in that time, I have had much to contemplate. What will be my next move? And who do I look like after all of these years? Some times I think you know better than me. In the short span of a couple of years, things have changed. Self portraits have turned into "selfies". Well, you know me, I'm up for anything. That's why you will always see me. Whether it's on my instagram, my websites, facebook or my tumblr. I'm everywhere, I'm mine, I'm yours. Some times I'm a puppy or a plant. Sometimes I'm a dress or a pant. And, sometimes, I'm just me. Here I am in my Maker's floral jeans and my Jelly tee. What do you think? Would you like to try a couple of my looks out? Well, stay tuned...

Warby Parker Takes it to the Beach via Ocean Ave
Warby Parker, the eyewear designers with revolutionary style and social-conciousness, are introducing the Ocean Avenue Collection TODAY and they have asked me to tell you about it! This unique collection is "one for the boardwalk truants, amateur spongers, and aspiring beach bums." Count me in...
Each of the 8 optical frames and 14 sunglasses are custom acetate, with dreamy new hues like Sea Glass Blue, Driftwood, Orange Fizz, and Chocolate Soda. Just looking at these juicy colors makes me want to pop open a popsicle and sink my feet in the sand.
So, where did you get your inspiration?
We’ve returned again and again to cult film The Warriors as a source of inspiration. Walter Hill’s grimy 1979 thriller charts the interborough rivalry of New York City gangs as they rumble their way to Coney Island over the course of one long night. It’s a metropolitan spin on The Odyssey—sirens included.
We wanted to commemorate the similar lawlessness of a bygone summer with a film of our own. When school’s out, responsibility and playing by the rules take a vacation until further notice. Chrissie Miller teamed up with director Cass Bird and stylist Turner to stage a Warby Parker-style beachside scuffle in the form of a dance-off. The setting? Coney Island, of course. “The collection and the film celebrate the fun and mischief of summer in New York, and nothing is more classic summer in the city than escaping to the Coney Island boardwalk and eating Nathan’s with your friends,” co-founder and co-CEO Neil Blumenthal says.
When I look at certain frames in this collection in your video, like the Jaspers in Orange Fizz, why do I feel like I've thrown on my mother's bell-bottoms and a vintage tee from the thrift shop?
“You feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp,” Miller says of the area’s preserved boardwalk, vintage signage, and scream-inducing rides. “We wanted it to feel like it could have been shot in the ‘70s, or it could have been shot yesterday.”
Take a look at this video, released today, go to their website and tell me what your favorite frame is. I'm pretty sure you will see me sporting the Wheeler in Cream Soda this summer… along with a pair of hot pants, of course!

Bring Me a Unicorn!
Sammy, my 12 lb baby brother, has an assortment of toys. This morning he decided to destroy a pink fluffy treat. I know that eating horses seems cruel but when it's mythilogical and stuffed with cotton... Well, maybe just this once.

Never Too Much
Growing up internationally, I remember my mother going out to several Naval events. Her look was always put together but never overdone. Her hair coiffed perfectly into an understated beehive she carried on her the perfect accessories; a matching belt, pastel angora sweater, dainty charm bracelet, grapevine earrings and, of course, a fabulously chic clutch. With the resurgence of 50's style, due to Mad Men obsessed women turned ladies, I think this is the perfect photo to reflect on this Mother's Day. Take a tip from this original fashionista, my mama.

A Butter Way to Start the Day
It's a grey day in Seattle, but don't let that get you down. Grab your comfiest tank (for me it's my crossback Stylemint in heather) and laquer up your nails with a creamy smooth dove-grey. I love Butter LONDON Billy No Mates! The title may say, "loser" but you definitely won't be with this combo.

I'm Excited About Warby Parker Glasses!
"Warby Parker," she giggled, "you can only get them online but they send a bunch to you to try for free, they give a pair to someone in need for every pair you buy AND they were only $95 with the prescription lenses!"
Of course I typed the name into my iphone immediatly! It sounded too good to be true. But two days after I put in my order for 5 free trial glasses, here I am trying them on for you. Everything she said was true, go to their website and see for yourself. The only problem is, which one's do I choose?!

tierra del fuego
A few months back, photographer Brian Hartman and I did a test shoot with this hot model Tierra. This is one of my favorite shots. I don't know what she was thinking of, must have been LUNCH! We were shooting in a studio right above a pizzeria in Georgetown. Go to my website to get this style for yourself!
