Daphne Selfe is the oldest and most beautiful super model at 85 with an enviable resume. She has appeared in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Italian Vanity Fair, Tatler, The Observer, The Times, and the Independent to name but a few, and been photographed by the likes of Mario Testino, Nick Knight, and David Bailey.

I love Gillian Lynne's defiance of conventional age. At 87, she continues her career in
dance as a choreographer and producer with her own production company.

This Thanksgiving I am looking forward to aging and being thankful for my health to carry me there. Find out why in the video, "Fabulous Fashionistas" about 6 women whose average age is 80. Among them, a youthful shop girl at age 75, the oldest working super model at age 85 and a mini-skirt wearing 87 year old dancer. These women indeed prove that if the personality fits, wear it!

From the Comfort of Home

I'm always surprised at what I have tucked away in cabinets and boxes beneath the stairs. I collect small items for photo shoots and home decor, things that I am not even aware I have put aside for just the right moment. So when I started searching for my winter transition, I was delighted to see a bevy of vintage finds; several different kinds of antlers, my father's old bible, animal pelts and even an old broken gun. Pow! This years theme came to me, "Hunting Lodge." And all this from the comfort of home.

It's been a while. And in that time, I have had much to contemplate. What will be my next move? And who do I look like after all of these years? Some times I think you know better than me. In the short span of a couple of years, things have changed. Self portraits have turned into "selfies". Well, you know me, I'm up for anything. That's why you will always see me. Whether it's on my instagram, my websites, facebook or my tumblr. I'm everywhere, I'm mine, I'm yours. Some times I'm a puppy or a plant. Sometimes I'm a dress or a pant. And, sometimes, I'm just me. Each of the 8 optical frames and 14 sunglasses are custom acetate, with dreamy new hues like Sea Glass Blue, Driftwood, Orange Fizz, and Chocolate Soda. Just looking at these juicy colors makes me want to pop open a popsicle and sink my feet in the sand.

So, where did you get your inspiration?

We’ve returned again and again to cult film The Warriors as a source of inspiration. Walter Hill’s grimy 1979 thriller charts the interborough rivalry of New York City gangs as they rumble their way to Coney Island over the course of one long night. It’s a metropolitan spin on The Odyssey—sirens included. 

We wanted to commemorate the similar lawlessness of a bygone summer with a film of our own. When school’s out, responsibility and playing by the rules take a vacation until further notice. Chrissie Miller teamed up with director Cass Bird and stylist Turner to stage a Warby Parker-style beachside scuffle in the form of a dance-off. The setting? Coney Island, of course. “The collection and the film celebrate the fun and mischief of summer in New York, and nothing is more classic summer in the city than escaping to the Coney Island boardwalk and eating Nathan’s with your friends,” co-founder and co-CEO Neil Blumenthal says.

When I look at certain frames in this collection in your video, like the Jaspers in Orange Fizz, why do I feel like I've thrown on my mother's bell-bottoms and a vintage tee from the thrift shop?

“You feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp,” Miller says of the area’s preserved boardwalk, vintage signage, and scream-inducing rides. “We wanted it to feel like it could have been shot in the ‘70s, or it could have been shot yesterday.”
