Lovely, Large and Lurid

Belle Vere meaning True Beauties.
Steven Meisel's photoshoot for Vogue Italia June just dropped onto America's shelves and it's heavy! Size 12 to 16 heavy. But big business aside, I can't tell you how refreshing it is to see gorgeous models on the cover of a fashion magazine. (You know how I feel about the celebrity-crazed covers, it's been non-stop for years!) Meisel's shoot is about fashion or lack there of in some shots, warning kiddies- these are some pretty hot takes with artful nudity. An editorial about how fashion, curves and lingerie bring out the woman in you? All I can say is- GIVE ME MORE!

Sogno di donna translates to Dream Woman. I couldn't agree more.

In Between

Click on this photo to see more from Nowhereman Photos and Charity Burggraaf

It was a hectic week. Plenty of 12 hour days; Tuesday morning shopping for props, designing a direct mail piece that afternoon, Wednesday was the photoshoot from 8am to 1pm, followed by on the floor sales from 2pm to 8pm, Thursday was a mash-up of design, sales and display. By Friday fitting in much needed social time was difficult but I managed to squeeze Dana's birthday dinner in between working a 6 hour shift and a late-night meeting from 8pm to ten. At 10:30 I could have called it a day but I took a cab down the hill and was able to meet a group of girls at Conor Byrne for a Noise for the Needy concert!

While enjoying a particularly grungy set by Hobosexual, a photographer caught my eye. That's when I ran into "Nowhereman" Mike Wilson, a self-professed photography, trivia and comic book nerd. He and I agreed that this evenings highlight was the duo consisting of Ben Harwood on guitars, vocals and "weird noises" and Jeff Silva on drums. Refreshingly good hair music is hard to find these days but if you fit life into your nooks and crannies, it's there. Win Tickets to Hobosexual’s Cassette Release Show this Saturday and see for yourself!

On the Cover of a Magazine

I used this photo by Sean Watson for my cover look
Seventeen Magazine is having a cover girl contest like no other. 5 "real" amazing girls have been chosen for the final line up. Take look at the contestants below and go here to vote. Can you guess who I voted for? It may surprise you!

Zoe in one of her own creations
Zoe's family was under financial strain and this girl took matters into her own hands by starting her own clothing line. Her homeless to fashionista story is truly inspiring.

Shannon is ready to race!
Shannon is well on her way to being a racecar record breaker! This speedy little girl is literally on the fast track to the Indy 500.

Nina standing up for others with the help of a friend.
Nina is not only against online abuse, she began a national campaign to aide in the prevention and hopes to pass laws against cyber bullying. Activism at it's best!
Lauren (to the right) with friends from the Bay Area Video Coalition
Documentary filmmaker Lauren combines film, her disorder (ADD) and social causes to live her passion. She's a true star in her own right!

This is not Ann but sometimes what represents a person best, is their work
At 16, Ann takes breathtaking photos on par with some of the best fashion photographers in the world! I for one would love to work with this amazing new talent.

Happy Father's Day!

Learning to walk. Learning to love.

XOXO,

Sea NY

Cuties and Hipsters and Bunnies! Oh My!
You know I'm a sucker for sporty, feminine designs so, naturally, when I came across this photo I had to know just what that leggy model was wearing. Turns out this designer had a certain connection with one of my all time faves. Former design director at Betsey Johnson, Monica Paolini, formed Sea NY with Sean Monahan in 2006. This sweet, girlish line has fun with airplane prints, animal knits and, apparently, cute fluffy white bunnies in the streets of Manhattan. They are currently available in the states at Barneys.

Jeffery Campbell Shoe Sentence

I did it! Annnd, they are in order too!
The challenge? Make a sentence out of my favorite Jeffery Campbell shoe names.

Here's the SITUATION, while some designers try to HARNESS my inner FOXY, JC is able to RINGLING my bell with a TAPESTRY of prints that make my PIXIE feet sing to the heavens above to our lady of FATIMA.

Whew! I did it! And for under $200, you can wear it here.

Instagram Me!

NEVER AGAIN

Jewelry is fun on you and displayed on your table!
While thrift shopping with jewelry designer Mara Fitch, I came across some key pieces to complete a hot gangsta look. I spent $12 total layering chain after chain, not including the pricey chunky silver flat chain that I borrowed from my boy "D". Here's what I used: a "Never Again" shoot-em-up necklace, a belt key chain with a black cross and a beautiful tarnished choker. But this look isn't just good for displaying on lil ol me, I bought this cool jewelry holder from Charley and May Co. to drape my finds on and set them on my bar top!

Pretty Boy

Beauty Andrej Pejic poses for Viva! Moda magazine.
The Paris 2010 fashion shows were all a buzz about a new model, "Who is that blonde girl?!" And this year the blonde waif was spotted on both men's and women's runways.

The model was in fact, a boy. At 19, Andrej Pejic is the new it girl! - uh, boy! - err BOTH! - proving that barriers of beauty are not only meant to be broken, they are meant to be destroyed.

FHM magazine named Pejic number 98 in their 100 Sexiest Women issue. Yay!- Right? Then they proceeded to belittle the super model calling him an "it" and a "thing" and requesting a "sick bucket." Boo! Very boo! What's more shocking, that Andrej Pejic is sexy and gorgeous as both a male and a female or that FHM promptly removed this article wrought with tranphobic subtext?
