Game On!

PowerA's Cool Controllers
I had no idea how important hand comfort was until I entered PowerA's gaming world. Did you know that little boys hands need little controllers to clobber their opponents in Facebreakers? Well, they do but Caution! - Don't let your daddy's "show" you how they work, they won't give them back. Or, did you know, that gamer's hands get hot and sweaty? Ew, they do and I guess they need a built-in fan to make it better. Producing, scouting, sourcing, stand-in modeling and styling; Sometimes a girl has to do it ALL!

Getting into character for my Stand-In role.

These shoots had me running around doing what I do best- multitasking

Trashy Styling

Waste Management Joe
Ahh... the glamorous world of styling. Or in this case, the trashy world of styling. I'm often surprised by what will be my favorite shoots, what will be my best work. I have to say- Joe is it! His dualities are expressed perfectly with a little bit of styling magic; the right hat, the perfect accessories (bow tie and glasses), the perfect hair and, yes, just a touch of makeup to hide the ball-cap tan line. Not so glamorous but oh-so gorgeous! Like Joe's facebook page here: and like mine too!

Chanel: Under the Sea

SpongeBob, Sandy and Patrick did not attend Chanel's sea-worthy fashion show but, that didn't make it any less magical. Check out the inspiring Spring/Summer 2012 show. Lagerfeld will have you dreaming of bubbeling jellyfish dresses, clam-shell clutches and coral-reef skirts!

It's All Wrapped Up!

It's all wrapped up and shouldn't you be?
Justin and I love to play with clothes. Err, I should say, I love to play with clothes, he loves to photograph them. For this shot, I thought it would be fun to wrap everything that's yummy and warm into my belt collection. Gucci, Sonia, Streets Ahead and Subtle Luxury are all on my shopping list. Check out my suggestions for yours at

Over the Top

This boy's room is just right for me!

This Fall I can't help but think of design in every sense. What clothes to wear (of course! dying for something vintage), what foods to eat (I'm into pies right now), what to drink (definitely switching to Cabs) and what interiors to redo (it's a stylist prerogative after all.)

Alta Moda presents a very stylized palette of furniture that is somewhat over-the-top. I call it design on crack. Don't get me wrong I am most certainly a maximalist. This kind of excessive indulgence feels so right this time of year. I’m over the moon about the repetitive structure, the need to drape and the sculptural quality of these shots. It’s playful with a dash of grown-up!

Anna Banana

Seattle doesn't offer many styling jobs for fashion shoots so whenever one comes up, I'm so thrilled to be a part of the process. For this collaboration Sean Watson did photography and design, Anna Mischke was our adorable model and I was the stylist contributing hair, makeup and wardrobe picks. I love these edgy collages featuring shoes from a local designer. Unfortunately, sometimes visions don't match up. The shoe designer was a bit reserved and afraid to take a chance. I say, fashion is exactly the right forum for taking chances. Sean did a spectacular job because...

Missoni for Target: Revisited

I've never waited in line, fought or pushed and shoved for a chance at a piece of clothing and I'm not about to start. There is plenty to go around. Millions of designs, thousands of designers. So why or why ladies did you get up this morning at the crack of dawn so you could get to Target and get your Missoni on when EVERYONE will be wearing the SAME thing?

Sean and I arrived at around 9 a.m. Sure, I didn't want to pass up a chance to grab a little fools gold (aka Missoni-ala-Cheap) but what we saw was shocking! We saw NOTHING! Racks were bare, shelves were naked. Nothing but retail tumbleweeds under any signs that read Missoni. But plenty of shopping carts were full.
“Did you see that woman’s cart? OMG- so piled high with sweaters and skirts and scarves and something rubber!" I squealed.
"Did I just see some kind of Kleenex box with Missoni print?" Sean asked "Do these ladies really think they are gonna fool anyone... with a Kleenex box?"
"I'm definitely taking a picture of her basket... Wait... Did she just take a picture of her own basket?!"
"Damn, that one has her iPad out with the Target site on it! She's lookin for s*** online!"

We laughed all the way to the coffee shop!

Here's my tip to you all, my favorites, my darlings; If you can get your hot little hands on something from Target's Missoni line, try to make it as "neutral" as possible. I know, I know. It's Missoni, bright colors, zig-zag patterns. What could possibly be "neutral"? What I mean to say is, don't look like everyone else, and I do mean EVERYONE, try to find some pieces that won't scream TARGET Missoni!! Don’t pile it on. Pair it with your own style, your own unique take. And if you can’t, no worries. Just head to your beloved vintage store and look for the real thing. After what I saw today, I’d say your chances are better there.

A Dramatic Shoot with Sean

Photographer Sean Watson and I love working with this model because her classic Asian face and porcelain skin evoke drama and mystery. For this look, I found the perfect compliment to Crystaloo's exotic flavor in Wai Ching's sumptuous, silky layered gown and the model's sexy snakeskin bathing suit was a spicy match for Wai Ching’s hand-dyed kimono.

Wai Ching Studios

Stepping into Wai Ching Studios where designer Chrissy Wai Ching and her crew fashion original creations might just make you change you mind about what evening wear and wedding gowns are supposed to look like. And... thank goodness.

I used to carry Chrissy's Ready-to-Wear at my boutique but she decided that fitting a design to the client's body was what made her designs so unique. Strips of hand torn silk, custom-dyed and sewn in soft ruffles row after row. I'm dying for an original gown, a beautiful paneled blazer, a wedding dress!!

Read Chrissy's Bio:
An exotic fusion of Chinese/Puerto Rican/English genes and a global upbringing lent Chrissy Wai Ching a cosmopolitan sensibility, but it was not until she went to live amidst the "bright colors and abundant beauty" of Nice that she discovered the ideal outlet for her many cultural influences: couture.
Chrissy debuted her wild yet wearable line, Wai-Ching, in 2003 with figure flattery at the top of her priority list. Creating fiercely unique clothing is a delicate process. To Wai-Ching, the art lies not only in designing, but also in selecting luxurious silks, hand-dyeing the blank canvas, and meticulously piecing together each masterpiece. The name Wai Ching (Cantonese for wisdom and virtue) reflects the philosophy of the line and of the artist herself.
If you're in need of a magical creation made just for you, contact Wai Ching Studios @ or give them a call (206) 229-1111.

One of Chrissy's assistants is also an
acrobat for the circus! Talk about unique!

Rubber Wedding

Like wedding bliss this dress will "pop!" if you're not careful. It's made entirely of deflated balloons!
Here's a close-up of the "brides' maid."

Class of 2011

Graduation can be a rite of passage, a result of hard work and academic skill or a moment in time when a person moves from one career to another.
Dakota Fanning is a movie star to us but a friend and cheerleader to her high school friends.
Dakota Fanning graduated from high school this year and is heading to college touring NYU as well as several other east coast schools. This young starlet managed to pack in a movie career as well as cheerleading and homecoming queen duties.

Adorable Stephanie with her family surrounding her at graduation.
Stephanie is headed off to DC after a rigorous curriculum at Seattle Pacific University! She'll be turning heads in the nation's capital with a degree in Political Science concentrating on International Affairs, and a minor in French. She's looking for a career with our national security, defense or intelligence. Brains and beauty!

Stacey Lowenberg-Ebstyne at her final curtain call. Photo by Lindsay Thomas
I first met Stacey Lowenberg when she was 17. This green little ballerina had just arrived from Iowa to study at the Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice. Stacey began her dance legacy at 12, later in life than most girls. But with determination, grit and heart, she became a member of the PNB’s Corps de Ballet almost immediately. Stacey enjoyed the spotlight with well-deserved solos in a long ballet career. But the heart and body can only stay in one place for so long. Her last performance was met with cheers and flowers at her feet. Although we will miss her on the stage, her transition to private teaching in Ballet and Pilates could bring her into our living rooms! You can contact me if you would like more information on her classes.

So there you have it! 3 lovely ladies from the Class of 2011; Each one a superstar, an intellectual and a dancer showing us achievement can be obtained in many ways and that our personal pursuit in excellence is ever-changing. How will you change the world? With wit, strength or grace? Or, like me, with style!

I was asked to design this graduate from the University of Washington's Foster School of Business's cap. Go Huskies!!
