New Year's Resolutions

My New Year's resolution personally is to keep my eyes wide open for opportunity and happiness and to then be a more thankful and gracious person. In business my plans are big but have started small with this blog. The collected wisdom of posting nearly every day has been an education I am most grateful for. Please take a look at what some of your favorite designers have in mind for their new year and the coming decade. ¡Felíz año nuevo! 새해 복 많이 받으세요! Se he bok ma nee ba deu se yo! Happy New Year!

“My New Year’s resolution would definitely be to have more fun. I feel like the past year has been such a stressful one for so many that a resolution to simply be conscious of having more fun is a great one. As far as the collection, we are sort of on the same wavelength, really into the idea of ‘party’ clothes, for all sorts of occasions, and party clothes for day that you can mix into your wardrobe. Special, unique pieces that revolutionize your closet.” — Chris Benz

“Both professionally and personally, 2010 is going to be about taking chances and being fearless.” — Peter Som

“[I want] to take Cynthia Steffe to the next level. We have some very exciting projects in the works to grow the brand and continue our expansion overseas. [I would also like] to spend as much time as possible with my daughter. She’s already a year old and growing so fast. I don’t want to miss a second of it.” — Shaun Kearney, Cynthia Steffe

“My personal resolution is to get my driver’s license so I can get a pink Smart car. For business, I want to launch Alice + Olivia shoes.” — Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia

“Personally and professionally, I will attempt to learn Japanese.” Thakoon Panichgul

“Personally, less Facebook, more face time. Also, I have been doing more and more store visits and events recently and it is so amazing to get to know the customer on a more personal level. They are fun and educational and I am focused on continuing this.” — Adam Lippes

“I am going to listen and follow the advice of our mentors, the people who work with me now after [winning] the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. I will also try to continuously offer our client unique and precious clothing made with care and love. And I want to grow and expand our business in a natural way, yet remain faithful to our values and core belief. I would love to find the time to get back to two of my passions. First, I want to paint on a canvas. I love to do portraits. Also, I was reading Gabriel García Márquez’s ‘100 Years of Solitude’ four years ago and still haven’t finished it. I hope to find time to finish that book.” — Sophie Theallet

“My personal resolution should be to go to the gym, but since I know that just won’t happen, I am aiming for something more realistic and will try to become more of a morning person. Professionally, my goal is to find a better balance in dividing my time between business responsibilities and creative ones.”
